case remains pending
why uscis officer reviewed the case if the dates are not current and their only goal is to flip the status ? They could have easily left to my old status ?

USCIS continues the processing of your application even if the PD is not current. This includes issuing RFEs or interview notices if needed. Doesn’t mean that you won’t get either in the future but at least, in my opinion, is a good sign that they at least looked at it.
