Most likely lawfully glitch, check the USCIS case status website or log into your USCIS portal to see the actual update.

it happens to my case too. Because our held very long time, then they will run a background check again, then they will decide how they make decisions for your case, either transfer your case to non local office or local office or rfes, etc. Time for preparing and waiting

@Alex X are you sure about that? I think it’s glitch from lawfully apps coz when I check with USCIS website it says nothing

You better contact Emma or phone call to know more detail then see your case status on the portal because you don't know the internal transfer or any signals

This happened to me when I went to renew my work permit. It showed "fingerprints," and then went back to "pending" again.

A “Case Remains Pending” status means USCIS has completed initial review but cannot yet approve the case, most commonly due to visa number availability limits, background checks, or final adjudication queue placement. Even if your priority date appears current, USCIS may still hold the case if visa numbers are temporarily unavailable at the time of adjudication or if internal processing steps are incomplete. Repeated or refreshed “Case Remains Pending” updates are usually system-generated status refreshes rather than new substantive action, and they do not indicate a problem or active officer review. The key risk is not the status message itself, but whether there are underlying delays such as visa retrogression or pending security checks. Practically, this status is common for employment-based I-485 cases with current PDs and reflects queue management rather than denial risk.
