Can I go to my parents’ 485 interview as interpreter?
Hey community,
my parents have their green card interview at field office soon but they don’t speak English. I am the petitioner of their application as a US citizen. i wonder if I can accompany them in the interview both as the petitioner and interpreter?
thanks guys!

did you put on the file that you’re going to be their interpreter ?

i signed their form 485 as interpreter, but I don’t think there was any section on the application asking about the interpreter for interview day

@Jeff Dani i was the petitioner for my mother and the allowed me to interpreter for her but just because the officer understood Spanish too so he knew I was translating the right thing

thanks @Yessi O - do you know if it is possible to somehow check/confirm this with USCIS before the interview date?

@Jeff Dani I’m not sure because it will depend on the field office officer you can take a friend or another family member with you in case they say you can’t be the interpreter. Our officer was really nice. Good luck to your parents
