yeah you can use it to renew your license, just make sure you bring a receipt notice showing you have a pending i485

My case has been presenting this status for almost a month and they did not ask me for biometrics either. My lawyer said that more than enough evidence was put into our case.

@Mrs SIMMs While your statement somewhat applies in @S M case ( instead need expired Green card and extension letter), you maybe referring to I-765, work authorization which you receive while you have pending I-485. But I-751 is remove conditions on residence. So, @S M already has a Green card. Thank you!

@S M Just out of curiosity, how come your DL was only valid for two years. My spouse in IN state received 6 years validity on the conditional Green card.

@Adam T So maybe states have different policies. I got my driver’s license using my work authorization which expired this March. and my DL was valid for 2 years just like my work permit. now I have the extension letter for 4 years so am curious if my DL will be valid for 4 years. I am going there today so we will see.

@S M I am sorry, I am abit confused, you have mentioned that you submitted your I-751, and received your 48 months extension, which means that you already have a green card and it is about to expire and you have to remove conditions in order to get a 10 years green card. So, why would use your work authorization if you have already a green card? Unless you got your DL while your I-485 was pending. If so, that makes sense to me. They would always give DL that is valid to the duration of your EAD card, but when it come to green card whether it is conditional or 10 years one, they should always give you the maximum validity that they would give to any U.S. citizen. If they tell you other than that, demand to speak to a supervisor, this should not be different from one state to another.

@Adam T I did use my EAD to get my DL while my I-485 was pending. I did get my green card but now am removing conditions. I went to get my DL today and it was a hustle because they ended up telling me that they can’t renew it but I talked to the supervisor who told me the same thing and had to fight him so they renewed my DL for the next 3.5 years which is good enough for me.

@S M I am glad it worked out for you. It is frustrating and ridiculous how stuff are clueless when it comes to immigration, and I have seen that in multiple locations. Friend of mine had to bring a lawyer to get his DL renewed. They only know citizen and non-citizen and nothing in between! Next time you renew, hopefully you would have your citizenship.
