@kendall Roy yes for sure. Are you still studying? are you leaving in another state? Here is some of your reasons that you need time and money to move from there, you have leasing contract, you have your life where you are now, why move now since you have no obligation, you don’t have GC in hands, just say I would love to move today if my GC is approved however I need to think what is better for me and my family now then I will stay where I am now before I can start to work, I know my responsibility I know my contract, but by the law I am not obligated to start now it is up to me, then just wait, they know about that, they are trying to scare you. Do not be afraid, ask them to pay your home contract as you will leave before your lease terminated, ask them if for some reason your GC is denied if they can guarantee your status, if course they can’t, then stay where is better for you.

EB3 UNSKILLED has said it all
You have enough reasons/excuses to give them
Do not let them pressure you!
I held starting off my 7months yet I regretted not holding off more.
Do not let them scare you!
Don't be a coward like me man!
Hold them off!

envoy lawyers actually advised me to keep my F1 status as long as possible, and they are hired by BDV. I would just copy and paste their lawyer message and tell them that out of abundance of caution i would like to keep my status until GC is approved

@Bran R which world are you living Bran? it makes no sense, what is your sponsor has to do with you when you are applying for citizenship? I don’t know where and how people come up with these crazy ideas. My friend as I mentioned, follow the law, what is the law says? You have no time determined by the law to work for them, please guys follow the law and stopping being cowards, you don’t have to do anything more or less, just follow the law, play by the rules, the government want to know the law, other thing than that is bullshit.

@EB3 UNSKILLED it’s just a thought. I know it seems crazy but when the country has no obligation to you it’s easy to become paranoid.
