Asylum update and request for advice
📢 **Affirmative Asylum Update & Request for Advice** 🇺🇸 Dear group members, I’d like to share an update on my affirmative asylum process and kindly seek your advice and insights: 🗓️ **Application Submitted:** End of March 2025 📍 **Biometrics:** April 2025 📞 **Interview Scheduled:** First Week of June 2025 I have a few important questions and would really appreciate input from anyone who has recently gone through the process: 1. **Do they detain applicants after the interview?** What are the chances and conditions for that? 2. **What is the current approval rate** for affirmative asylum interviews? 3. **How long does it take to get a decision** after the interview? 4. **What are your top tips** for someone going into the interview? 5. **What types of questions** does the asylum officer usually ask during the interview? 📂 **Note:** My case is 100% genuine. I’ve submitted all supporting documents and evidence myself, and applied without a lawyer. Your responses, experiences, and suggestions are greatly appreciated 🙏 Thanks in advance for your support! ---

@Yasir Farid : Based on my recent experience (interview completed and granted asylum), here’s what I can share: 1. Do they detain applicants after the interview? For affirmative asylum interviews (not defensive/asylum court), detentions are rare. USCIS doesn’t typically detain people unless there’s a serious red flag — like a criminal record, past deportation, or fraud concerns. If your record is clean and your case is genuine (as you noted), you should be fine. The presence of an immigration attorney reduces the chances of detention further. again, this is provided there's no red flag in your past. 2. Current approval rates? It’s hard to give a perfect number, as it depends on your asylum office and case strength. But strong, well-documented cases — especially filed with clear, consistent testimony and supporting documents — have a good chance, especially when you’ve done your homework. 3. How long until a decision? It varies. I personally received my decision 2 weeks after the interview, then my I-94 and A05 EAD shortly after. Others may wait longer, but suing USCIS (via mandamus) often speeds things up. If you didn’t sue, your wait might be longer, but not necessarily months. 4 & 5. Tips + common interview questions? I actually wrote a full post about my interview experience, with key tips and examples of what USCIS asks. You can look up the title: ‘My Experience at the Asylum Interview (Affirmative)’ or the hashtag '#AsylumInterview' to read more. I hope this helps. Good luck! 😊
