asylum and i485
hi all,
please I need help if someone has the same situation. My husband came in the US as a visitor, then we met in 2015 when he filed for asylum. in july 2019 we had out first daughter and got married October 2019 and had second daughter in September 2020. we filed for i130 on July 16 2020 before I became citizen and i485 October 2020 after I became citizen. we never cancel his asylum case. now the i130 is 367days and i485 is 270 days still not update.
my question is, should we have filed to cancel the asylum? if we do so now, will it impact the i485? I need some answers please 👏

I was in the same situation before I became legal permanent resident
you have to wait for the i130 and i485 to approve first then you can go to your closest asylum office to close the asylum cas if you close the asylum before the green card approve he will be out off statue and he will not be able to renew his work permit
pray 🙏 your cas get approved soon
good luck 👍

mine took like 4 months it was 3 years ago before COVID but now everything change
I applied to remove condition in my residence because it was a 2 year conditional green card I never heard anything from it’s been 1 year since I filed
you can’t really tell how long a cas can take nowadays…

You can cancel your asylum case easily now after new updates from USCIS.

I heard recently about new updates from asylum called Administrative closure . According to my understanding, you can suspend your asylum case in the court for a while and reopen on the future if you have to without need to get an appointment hearing from the court.
