Do not get married. Wair for her vawa to be approved. If she gets married she again will give her power away to a man who may change his mind about his petition for her, control her and abuse her again. ( I know when you are in love it’s hard to think bad but think about her ex husband whom she also loved and he changed and abused her) The moment you give men your power you don’t get it back. Her vawa may get approved and she can get married later. If this is true love as she thinks than it can wait, the marriage can wait, the future husband can wait too. Good luck

thank you so much @GOD HAVE MERCY this was the same thing I told her. The problem is the lawyer is encouraging her to marry and that victims of abuse are expected to move on with their lives. Everyone who has been through the vawa process says otherwise. Thank you so much @🙏❤️ June 2022 I actually advised her to do same, but she appears to believe her lawyer more. Her lawyer said if she truly loves the man she should go ahead and marry him. I guess the lawyer is saying this with the hopes that they can withdraw the Vawa petition and file a fresh I-130 petition which seems to be processed faster. She has been waiting for 2 years now yet no approval update. She has a strong case but the wait time is long.

@ChristJesus my hope. Please, tell her not to marry the new man yet until her Vawa gets approved, except she want to withdraw her Vawa case then marry the new guy and file a marriage base case.

@ChristJesus my hope tell your friend that she can be with the man without marrying him yet. Nothing's going to change except for another ring on her finger. She already waited for 2 years and clearly moved on. She should wait for the vawa to be approved.
