Asking for a friend in dilemma
Asking for a friend she is in love and her man proposed. She is currently divorced from her abusive ex husband. Her lawyer said she can get married since she is divorced. She is confused, pls advise.

if her I-360 is already approved she can get married . but if her I-360 (VAWA) isn’t approved yet, once she get married, the VAWA will be denied

Do not get married. Wair for her vawa to be approved. If she gets married she again will give her power away to a man who may change his mind about his petition for her, control her and abuse her again. ( I know when you are in love it’s hard to think bad but think about her ex husband whom she also loved and he changed and abused her) The moment you give men your power you don’t get it back. Her vawa may get approved and she can get married later. If this is true love as she thinks than it can wait, the marriage can wait, the future husband can wait too. Good luck
