For a K-1, after it’s been approved by USCIS, there’s no way to know when it’s on its way to NVC.

You will know it’s at NVC and on its way to your embassy once you receive the welcome letter from NVC, which can take anywhere between 15 and 90 days.

@Jessica V Sounds like it's inconsistent. It's been over 25 days after the case is approved but the status has yet to change to sent to department of state.

@A P My way of explaining it is the correct way, as your case is K-1. Again, you will not know when your case has been sent to NVC. The only way you will know of the next step is when you receive a welcome letter from NVC. The letter has your case number, which can help you track your case status. Once your case shows up as ready, you can do the next steps. Again, it takes about 15-90 days to receive the welcome letter from NVC.

@Jessica V Thanks for explaining that. I figured it takes 30 days+ to see welcome letter. It comes via email or physical mail?
J
Jessica VApr 20, 2023
@A P Yeah, it takes a while for NVC to receive it from USCIS. Plus, it can take longer for your embassy to say they’re ready for your case. That’s why, it depends for everyone.

@Jessica V will the welcome letter be in physical printed mail or email? And who will get it ... petitioner or beneficiary?
J

@A P The welcome letter arrives through email first and after a month or two, through physical mail. The petitioner usually receives the letter. However, it all depends on the email that was on the original submitted documents to USCIS.
