Approved!
The entire process took about 6 months. We hired an immigration attorney to file paperwork and prepare us for interview. We also hired an interpreter via phone, which was appreciated by the officer and made things smoother.

congratulations...my pd is april5,2021 and same as yours timelines..but waiting..
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
Thank you and Best wishes!
H KOct 28, 2021
thank you ,really need it..š your field office? what did they asked??
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
They asked our names, date of birth, prior addresses, parents names, how we met, our first date, date of marriage, about the reception, how many guests, about our honeymoon, what do we have in common, what did we eat for dinner, why did we get married, who asked who to marry, how did the proposal go, what date did spouse move in, why did we want to get married, where did we get married, do we have kids, how many bedrooms in house, how many people live in the house, have you met each others parents, what do we do for fun, what is spouses favorite food and other relationship questions. When officer asks a question, be sure to listen carefully and give a short direct answer. If officer asks another question, again short direct answer. Try not to go into story mode because they will keep asking more and more questions and interview will drag.
H KOct 28, 2021
wow..that looks tough...so many questions š³ here i have been watching ppl have very easy and short interviews..
H KOct 28, 2021
but really happy that you guys did it..š
francesca .Oct 28, 2021
wow! congrats Leslie! did you also apply for the work authorization at the same time (form 765 I believe)? if so, how long did it take to receive the EAD card?
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
Their main objective is to make sure the marriage is bona-fide. I'm sure each officer handles each case differently and they want to make sure we both answer questions the same. Practice the long list of practice questions. You never know what they will ask. The interview wasn't hard or tough. We sailed through it and we had a friendly officer.
H KOct 28, 2021
you're right..I will keep in mind what you said..really thanks again for your help.
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
You're very welcome
H KOct 28, 2021
my case was applied on April 5,2021 and didn't get bio at all, I think they reused mine from the back. and we have applied i130,i131,i765,i485 altogether and since June 22nd they have updated that case is ready to schdule for interview but got nothing..just waiting
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
Francesca, we did file I765, but it only shows received. Since we have the LPR card, we don't need the EAD anymore.
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
Different offices have heavier work loads. We had NBC and Potomac. Depends on your location. I believe you can contact them USCIS to inquire on your case.
H KOct 28, 2021

@Leslie, did they check if you got your COVID vaccine shots ? my interview is coming up and I donāt have it yet and Iām wondering what they gonna say .
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
No, they didn't ask about covid or do temperature check. We were required to wear masks.
hpo poniOct 28, 2021
what was the rfe for?
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
I forgot to bring a copy of our lease. I only brought the paper the leasing office gave us where I added my spouse.
hpo poniOct 28, 2021
oh ok
Will thomasOct 28, 2021
was your interpreter via phone? why? can you explain that part please?
my interview is coming, so I need to know
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
Yes, our interpreter was by phone. You can locate one through Google. They charge for an hour up front. When you arrive for your interview, notify the officer that you obtained an interpreter and give them their phone number. Before the interview starts, the officer will call the interpreter and the interview will begin.
fadolf trumpOct 28, 2021
@Leslie so itās not mandatory to get the COVID shots in order to approve the GC ? correct ? I did my medicals in August and there wasnāt the new law of having COVID shots yet before GC approval
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
No, your I-693 only requires a few vaccines. COVID isn't on the list!
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
Allow me to redact my last comment. It does appear now that covid vaccine is a requirement. https://www.uscis.gov/tools/designated-civil-surgeons/vaccination-requirements
fadolf trumpOct 28, 2021
yeah I read any applicant being interviewed as of Oct 1st should show prove of COVID vaccine . when was your interview Leslie?

COVID-19 Vaccination Required for Immigration Medical Examinations
Release Date
09/14/2021
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services today announced that, effective Oct. 1, 2021, applicants subject to the immigration medical examination must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before the civil surgeon can complete an immigration medical examination and sign Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record.
We are updating our policy guidance in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Preventionās Aug. 17, 2021 update to the Technical Instructions for Civil Surgeons. That update requires applicants subject to the immigration medical examination to complete the COVID-19 vaccine series (one or two doses, depending on the vaccine) and provide documentation of vaccination to the civil surgeon before completion of the immigration medical examination. This requirement is effective Oct. 1, 2021, and applies prospectively to all Forms I-693 signed by the civil surgeons on or after that date. We are working on updating Form I-693 and the form instructions to incorporate this new requirement.
In general, individuals applying to become a lawful permanent resident, and other applicants as deemed necessary, must undergo an immigration medical examination to show they are free from any conditions that would render them inadmissible under the health-related grounds. USCIS designates eligible physicians as civil surgeons to perform this immigration medical examination for applicants within the United States and to document the results of the immigration medical examination on the Form I-693.
USCIS may grant blanket waivers if the COVID-19 vaccine is:
Not age-appropriate;
Contraindicated due to a medical condition;
Not routinely available where the civil surgeon practices; or
Limited in supply and would cause significant delay for the applicant to receive the vaccination.
Individuals may also apply for individual waivers based on religious beliefs or moral convictions by submitting Form I-601, Application for Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility.
For more information, see the policy alert (PDF, 319.56 KB).

Oct. 14th, but we received the I693 notice following biometrics which was late September.
fadolf trumpOct 28, 2021
just like mine, I received the i693 deficiency notice and they asked me not to send to them but bring it with me on my interview. I did my medicals in August, so does it mean Iām not mandated to have the COVID shots since I donāt fall in the date (Oct 1,2021) ? I guessing so since they didnāt ask you and your interview was just this October 14
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
I think since yours was before Oct. 1st you will be fine. They didn't have a problem with ours.
fadolf trumpOct 28, 2021
I hope so cuz I donāt see why they have to force us to get vaccinated! I appreciate your time Leslie

@superz Try not to be discouraged. Did you hire an immigration attorney?
super zOct 28, 2021
@Leslie yes I did but I regret hiring that womanā¦.I contacted her to enquire cos Iām seeing lots of people I filed before getting biometrics ā¦all she told me was thereās nothing she can do and that it depends on the officer
Leslie AlomaryOct 28, 2021
You can try contact USCIS and make an inquiry into expediting your case.

@Super Z. I think she is right. thereās nothing an immigration lawyer can do once itās submitted. An immigration attorney is just there to ensure all the āIā are dots and all the ātā are crossed. It all depend on the immigration case officer assigned to handle your case.
Just be patient.
