Approved 62 days after the interview/Pending Asylum
Had an interview on June 7th in Washington FO. IO took almost two hours just to ask some questions from I485 and normal questions like where/how we met, what type of car we have, and what places we went on vacation, and some “Date” related questions. She also asked me about my F1 status like did I work illegally ever and why did I drop the school. I dropped school once I got my GC-EAD. Many people did not recommend me to drop school until I get GC on hand but I don't see any point in going to school and wasting money. She was literally complaining about her system throughout the interview coz the system was not acting properly. I believe in her, she had to go out to make a copy of the documents we brought coz her system does not allow her to do so. A same-sex couple and the second marriage of my husband. She asked my husband “ is this your second marriage, that's it”.
In the end, I signed on a tablet and she said she do not have any problem approving our case but she needs to do some check in my Assylum application, which might take two weeks to many many many months. she scared me when she said that! Two days later I130 got approved and I485 was stuck until today which took 62 days to approve. I basically enquired twice and no updates from USCIS then I used the help from both Congressman and Senator, turned out it worked.

many many congratulations to you! did they ask you about your school transcripts or I-20 during interview?
P SAug 10, 2022
@Falcon- Thanks! I brought all the i20s and transcripts to be on the safe side but they did not ask for any school-related documents but rather asked me why I drop going to school. Hope this might help you!

thank you! this was a huge help

congrats 🎉. How did you contact the senator and congressman for their help?
P SAug 10, 2022
@Sal- Thanks! I simply googled it and the Senator and Congressman have to be based on your constituent location and wrote them an email asking their help to enquire about my pending case. Someone from their office emailed back to have me fill up some paperwork to represent my case.
P SAug 10, 2022
@MO- No, I was not. My Asylum application is in pending since 2016 and nothing happened yet. FYI, I was in F1 status and I did not use my Assylum EAD at all.

that’s awesome congratulations! I was interviewed at the same FO on May 18 and haven’t heard anything yet. I will contact the congressman. Do they ask you for any evidence?
P SAug 11, 2022
@Lily- Thanks! I feel your frustration. You are going to have them represent your case to enquire USCIS so you will be asked to fill out and sign some forms. To your question- “yes they will ask for some evidence” and provide you with suggestions on what may/may not happen from their side. Hope this helps and you will get your decision soon.
