Sane happend with me. I am the primary applicant. They approved combo - EAD + AP for my wife in July 2023 and only EAD for me and my son. Eventually they approved all our Green card in February 2024. AP for me and my son was never approved. So it’s their wish and whim and up to their discretion. 🙂 We cannot do anything.

there was an independent investigation by some university which revealed that women get their process approved quicker than men. i will find the link and post.
