@Living Hope my status actually changed to “Card is being produced “ a few hours after my biometric, and “case approved” the following day

@lotus n not necessarily. EAD is given temporarily (to allow one work) based on a pending AOS in this case. The background checks I believe is to make sure one is not associated with any extremist organization, and is devoid of criminal records/activities (in summary to make sure one is admissible into the U.S). The EAD becomes invalid if the pending AOS is denied.
