Anyone still maintaining F-1 and using AP
If you travel on Advance Parole, does that mean you stop being on F-1 status?

yes

You are not required to keep your F-1 active once your I-485 is pending, because the pending I-485 itself protects you from being out of status. I know you are doing out of caution but once your travel and admitted under your pending I-485 your F1 is basically gone. Don’t think too much

thank you you guys so much @Mark White @January 2021

why not just travel under your F1? @Jay N

An F1 is not a dual intent visa, so if Jay N travels outside the US with a pending I-485, it'll be considered abandoned

@victoria B they will not admit him on F1. F1 is a non immigrant visa, he cannot have an pending I-485 and enter on F1.

@Aaron O @Mark White thank you for the clarification.

thank you y’all. you guys still keep F-1 status?
Mark White1d
@Jay N not necessary. I haven’t been maintaing my f1 as I have a pending I-485 as well. Pending I-485 = lawful period of stay, so F-1 isn’t strictly required. But maintaining F-1 until approval = extra safety net in case your green card is denied. Once I-485 is approved = F-1 ends automatically, you’re a permanent resident.
