Anyone in a similar situation?
I applied for U.S. citizenship in January 2026, and my wife is on F-1 OPT expiring in August. Her employer is not E-Verify, and we recently had a baby. Looking for advise.

You may want to consult an immigration attorney immediately. If you are already a permanent resident and have not yet filed an I-130 for your wife, it may be worth exploring that option as soon as possible rather than waiting for your citizenship case to be completed.
Keep in mind that an I-130 alone does not maintain F-1 status or extend OPT work authorization, so her expiring OPT and the E-Verify issue may require separate planning. The best strategy depends on when you married, whether any petitions have already been filed, and whether she may qualify for STEM OPT or another immigration pathway.
Given the August deadline, I would not wait for the N-400 decision before getting legal advice.

@Waiting Cat I love you already for the disclaimer. This statement actually make sense because as a GC holder, you can’t file I-130 and I-485 concurrently. Due to the time constraints, it’s better an alternative route is being explored for the wife. A pending I-130 will not cover her. Since her student status is still active, here are some alternatives “in my opinion “. 1. see if she can extend her opt, it will be nice if she’s in STEM. 2. can she apply to another school, maybe for advance degree so as to maintain her status. If you do meet with an attorney, what should be your focus of discussion should be on your wife maintaining her status till you become a US citizen or probably when a visa data is available for her, which ever comes first.

why is your wife on F1 OPT? Haven’t you done AOS for her after marriage?

My immigration attorney advised that since the I-130 priority date is currently current, I may be able to file the I-130 and I-485 concurrently. Has anyone else been in the same situation recently? If so, did you file both applications together.
