i think you can still apply for i485, it’s just they will transfer the form to counsular and you have to go back to your country for interview. Of course if you fail your interview then there’s really no way to go back

@Stressed out I agree. however I think we can still file for I485, but when it comes to decision, the officer may send the case to counsular for interview. If they think no interview is needed then they will just approve the case in the US.

my status is F1 I have never worked with the sponsor

@A R congratulations! just wanted to ask how did you maintain your f1 status like are you still enrolled in college? and did the officer raise any questions regarding why are you not working for your sponsor yet during the interview ?

I was wondering if approved i140 would have some benefit in terms of going back to your home country. I have kids who were born here and I’m afraid to change their lives like this. Came here on L visa and applied for I 140 (which approved lately) The plan was to submit I 485 in the coming days. Would love your thoughts 🙏

@sam young I am still enrolled in college full time. I have never dropped my status at any stage. work history was not discussed at the time of interview. Valid job offer from same employer was submitted at the time of interview which resulted in the approval of I485J
