I just responded to an rfe for the same thing. they are looking for the adjusted gross income. if you are able to access irs.gov transcripts it lays is out for you (about 6 pages) they prefer the transcript sponsors adjusted income needs to be enough for anyone they claim taxes with/for plus yourself as the immigrant. in michigan the income requirement for the sponsor and the immigrant is approx. $27,000 (you can look this up for your situation and state). assets are used if income does not qualify and needs to supplement for the income. hope this helps! @best wishes

@shi bunz please my joint sponsor household size is 3, now is about to sponsor me and my 2 kids . I know it will be a total of 6 . he is going to fill out 3 separate form i864 for me and 2 kids. I just want to know how the numbers will appear in each form my form The immigrant he is sponsoring….1 him the sponsor………………..1 his dependents (2 of his kids)…2 1+1+2=4 OR is it going to be him……1 me……1 his kids ….2 then my kids….2 1+1+2+2=6

Key Rules for Household Size on I-864 The sponsor must always count themselves. They must count their dependents (spouse, unmarried children under 21, or anyone they list as a dependent on their taxes). They must count each immigrant they are sponsoring on that specific form.
