You can do 864A as a household member but you can't be a sponsor. You definitely need someone entirely to be a sponsor. I would recommend you search diligently for one that has sufficient income above the poverty guidelines who has been filing their taxes for the last three years at least.

Don't wait too long either because I heard that the filing fee will be doubled early next year.

@sagar raina get a new lawyer if he actually said you can add your income and sponser yourself. I suggest you diligently look around before you proceed else it is certain they will deny your case. my wife was pregnant last year so she stayed home all year and they asked for her recent tax record and it wasn’t enough so i had to really search and i found an uncle who was willing to support me. i130 just got approved

I agree get rid of that lawyer! in addition your wife though she is not working, she has fill out an affidavit form as the petitioner. Provide her last three years tax filing info on the form even if she did not file for any of those years. If that's the case make a note on the last page about why she did not file... good luck

you guys saying like we can get sponsor anywhere so easily man. Trust me I done asked 5 persons and none accepted to help and few of them are relatives

I asked a few family members for help but all of them had excuses why they couldn't. Friends were the same. Then I got two family members from my spouse's side who were willing but their transcripts didn't fit the bill. Finally I asked another one who i wasn't even thinking about and it was picture perfect!
