My I-485 interview went smoothly, but the officer noted that my previous consular record incorrectly listed me as “married,” even though I was divorced at that time. I was told to submit a written explanation (clarification/apology letter) and supporting divorce documentation. My case is currently on hold pending this submission. This is not a denial — it’s a technical discrepancy that needs correction. I am waiting for the RFE (Request for Evidence) to arrive. If anyone has experienced a similar situation (wrong marital status recorded at consular processing), please share how long it took after submitting the response to receive their Green Card.
