YOU SUBMITTED YOUR CASE NOW WHAT?
NOTE: This is mainly for marriage based AOS I went through the immigration process before and now am just applying to remove conditions. I used this app before and I am using it is now again. For those of you who are new with immigration process, here are few pointers: 1. After you have submitted your application, you should receive a notice with your case number. Getting the notice can take weeks and for some a month or even more. I would suggest to reach out to USCIS if it has been over 2 months and you haven’t received anything. Evey case is different so asking here how long until you hear back unless someone here is working on your case there is absolutely no way of knowing until you hear back from USCIS 2. After getting the notice , you should receive a biometric appointment and again getting the notice or even being notified of the need to get biometric can take a few weeks or even months. Asking here how long until you receive your biometric appointment will only give you false hopes since only uscis know how they decide when to send what notification or notices and to whom. 3. USCIS works in mysterious ways. How they decide how your case progresses it is totally up to them or the officer who is working on your case. There are so many factors that contribute to the delay on these cases and not that I am making excuses for them but even though they are a government branch doesn’t mean they don’t deal with short staff, high employment turnovers etc. just like any other company deal with these issues the differences is they have millions of cases piled up 4. After your receipts and biometric appointments or if you received a notice of getting your biometric reused, you can get any update after that including RFE, interview appointment, EAD approved etc or simply we are actively reviewing your case. NO ONE KNOWS exactly how these decisions are made and like I said before I know this platform is like a support system but you need to understand your case is unique even if there are thousands of other people with similar case or timeline doesn’t mean if they get approved then you will soon beacuse whoever is working on that person’s case doesn’t mean they are working on yours. Not trying to discourage you but that is the truth. also gettting the WE ARE ACTIVELY REVIEWING YOUR CASE, doesn’t mean anything and it doesn’t mean they are looking at it now and they will get back to you tomorrow or next week ( for some people it does happen especially after submitting an answer to RFE or their case was radio silent for so long and they receive this update it could well mean that they are reviewing it and they get an approval soon after or other updates ) 4. Lawyfully is great but remember the statistics you see here are only based on similar cases that also USE this app not world wide. There are thousands of people with similar cases and don’t use this app so just keep that in mind. 5. If you get called for an interview unless you have a fishy marriage then you should be confident and consult your lawyer if you used one for some pointers for the interview. There are lots of articles if you google or YouTube have lots of examples on how uscis do their interviews and examples of questions asked. But if you know your spouse and you both know each other then you should be fine. USCIS only ask questions that you should have the answer to. most of these interviews are very chill, if you go unprepared then you will give them a reason to call you again for the interview or have some suspicions on your case. Not thing to scare you just being real. Always bring new evidence in case they ask for it.Dont ever offer them something they didn’t ask for, that’s just a red flag. if they want something from you they usually ask. Some officers might be fine you offering new evidence but from my experience they have almost everything they need and if they need more that’s what they send RFE or ask if you have new evidence at interviews. 6. It sucks that some cases that were sent after you get approved but like I said earlier each case is different and unique. You might think your case is straight foward but obviously USCIS might not think so, so getting pissed everytime someone gets approved before you will not make your case move faster or get approved. Just be happy for that person and move on. No one can bribe USCIS to get their cases get approved sooner so if someone got lucky and got approved, it was their time and you should be happy for them. 7. Going through immigration can take a mental toll on a lot of us so KNOW when you need to take a break from these apps and just live life. We are all obsessed with our cases but know your limitations and take a break if you need to and live life outside of immigration worries and stress. I know it is easier said that done but I have been there so I am speaking from experience. 8. This journey is tough but like I mentioned earlier, this platform is great for support, unless you are speaking with a lawyer. there is no one here who can tell you exactly when you will hear back about your response to RFE or get decision after interview. Just because someone got approved the same day after their RFE response was received or after their interview doesn’t mean that will be your case too. your case is not theirs. We might have some similarities on our case but don’t hold your breath thinking someone else’s timeline will align with yours, you will just get disappointed. I am not trying to discourage anyone but I also would hate for someone to get false hopes based on someone else’s case. All you can do after you have submitted your case is just to wait unless you have been waiting for years and want to contact someone lien your congressman to get your case sped up. . I see poeple here already complaining and whining when they just submitted their application like few weeks ago or few months ago when there are thousands and thousands of people who have been waiting for months and years and you come here barely waiting and you are already crying lol I mean come on it is a bit of an insult to those who have been waiting for over a year or 2 years or even more. USCIS DOES NOT WORK ON YOUR DESIRED SCHEDULE OR TIMELINE 😃THEY WORK ON CASES HOWEVER THEY CHOOSE TO. So don’t drive yourself crazy trying to understand how they choose which cases to work on and all those blah blah blah I might get hated for this but I had some free time and thoguht I would put this up lol GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US 🇺🇸

I was all for this until #2 and again at #5. Please specify on the beginning this is for Marriage based AOS. You're about to confuse the consulate folks. Lol. Thanks for being realistic. It's needed.

@Epris Richardson I did add that this is based on Marriage based AOS, thanks. Also I only wrote this because I see people here asking questions all the time that only a person who works on their case will know. Like how long until I head back after submitting my evidence or after biometric appointment or my status hasn’t changed in few weeks how long until I head back . All these questions are valid but not trying to be rude, but I think people sometimes especially the new ones just assume just because someone got their biometric appointment within 3 weeks after submitting the same case as theirs then they just assume the same thinf will happen to them which is so not true. I see people responding like you should hear back within the next few days then again that’s not true because they might not hear anything those next few days and this just gives people false hope and dissappoinments.

@S M Didn't see the note when I read it. No need to go into detail on the why. I agreed and understand wholeheartedly. We need more of these types of posts.
