normally I-485 interview USCIS officer will ask you questions about your application, background, and any supporting documents. It’s a chance for them to verify your information. but since it's been awhile since you had an interview and you filled out the lawsuit . they my ask this below or more ### Personal Information 1. **What is your full name?** - Be ready to confirm your name and any other names you may have used. 2. **What is your date of birth and place of birth?** - Double-check that the information on your application matches your documents. 3. **What is your current address?** - Ensure that your address is up-to-date, as this is where USCIS will send correspondence. 4. **What is your marital status?** - Be clear about your current marital status and provide details if you are married. ### Immigration History 1. **When did you enter the United States?** - Be prepared to provide details about your entry, including the date, method of entry, and any visa details. 2. **Have you ever been arrested or had any legal issues?** - If applicable, be honest and provide context. USCIS appreciates transparency. 3. **Have you ever violated the terms of your visa?** - Again, honesty is crucial here. If there are any violations, be prepared to discuss them. ### Employment and Education 1. **Where do you work, and what is your job title?** - Have your employment details handy, including your employer's name and contact information. 2. **What is your educational background?** - You may be asked about your schools and degrees. It’s good to have some details in mind. ### Family Information 1. **Can you tell us about your family?** - Be ready to discuss your immediate family members, including your spouse (if applicable) and children. 2. **How did you meet your spouse?** - If you are applying based on marriage, be prepared to share the story of your relationship. This can include details about how you met, your first dates, and memorable moments together. 3. **What are your spouse’s hobbies and interests?** - Having a few details about your spouse can help demonstrate the authenticity of your relationship. ### Future Plans 1. **What are your plans once you receive your green card?** - Think about your goals and how you see your future in the U.S., whether it’s pursuing a career, education, or starting a family. 2. **Do you have plans to travel outside the U.S.?** - If you do have future travel plans, be prepared to discuss them. ### Final Thoughts - **Be Honest and Calm:** The most important thing is to be truthful in your answers. If you don’t know an answer, it’s okay to say so. Taking a moment to think before you respond is perfectly acceptable. - **Bring Documentation:** Make sure to bring copies of your application, identification, and any supporting documents that you might need. This can include your marriage certificate, birth certificates, and proof of your relationship (like photos or messages). - **Dress Appropriately:** First impressions matter. Dressing neatly can help you feel more confident. - **Practice, Practice, Practice:** If you can, have a friend or family member conduct a mock interview with you. This can help you get comfortable with the types of questions that may come up. Remember, the interview is a chance for you to share your story and demonstrate your eligibility for permanent residency. With a positive attitude and some preparation, you’ll do great! Good luck!
