yayyyyy
this is such a relief after our interview yesterday and the amount of anxiety I have had waiting. I’m in my mid 20s and I married my college boyfriend last year. we moved in together after or wedding and is the only thing that has our name on it together. we don’t file taxes together because he is a dependent under his parents and we don’t have a joint account. also we got eloped and had no family present due to my family not being able to travel for Covid we didn’t want to wait to start our lives together after dating all 4 years of college. we did have the proof of required funds between us and over 100 photos of us over the 4 years and with family and friends. after hearing some bad scenarios on here we were hesitant we didn’t have enough proof but the interviewer was so nice he only asked the yes no questions and then how we met and when we started dating and was honest about the elopement. I asked if he needed anything else and said nope I just approved you. I only got the conditional 2 year so will have to redo all this in 2 years but still waiting on my work authorization. I’m just so happy I haven’t been able to go home for over two years because of Covid and then this and just being able to have the freedom to travel and see family it’s amazing.

@ Morgan C , congratulations, you don’t need work permit anymore dearie, all what you want to apply for now is social security number and you have one from your school that, will be automatically converted to real social security number.

hey Morgan if you got ur 2 year conditional card in hand you don’t need ur work authorization. I got my 2 green card card very fast too before authorization which at that point is no longer required. Also any marriage under 2 years less at the time of green card issue only gets 2 card card so it’s not specific to ur case. In the next few years focus on collecting more evidence of co mingling like joint bank account, joint bills etc etc When you apply for removal of conditions they look more at what you all co mingled like bank account statements/credit card statements/wills/life-health insurance/receipts of trips together/receipts of expensive gifts maybe/birth certs of children born in that time/joint bills/car insurances joint etc

Morgan for ur SS # does it have ‘valid only for’ on it? because if does… you can get a new one with 0 conditions! so exciting
Nunka 007Mar 4, 2022
you from Australia 🇦🇺 wow, that’s the reason

you have to get it. Before you could just walk into the social security office and show your green card and get a new card but now I think it’s by appointment due to covid. Just call ur nearby office and book an appointment. Took me like 5 mins before and they send in the mail in a few days

@Nunka 007 - I am Australian on EB2 and waiting since Sep-2021. I don’t think it’s the reason 🙃

@H TX you’ve just been waiting for less than 5month, my EAD renewal is 13 months now after so many requests still no response. I bet if Morgan was from any of the African country with less evidence for her interview, I bet with my life she will never get the GC.

Nunka certain countries are easier to background check. My green card took barely 4 months and that was with an rfe for lost paperwork which prolonged us a month. Also, when u have 2 people around the same age/same language/same college it’s a much more believable love story than a 60 year old man picking up a 20 year old on vacation. Aussies aren’t exactly looking to escape poverty and scam Americans for a green card. The processing times are an estimate of the last 6 months average and things are picking up. I saw a young lady from Mexico her green card in about 59 days on here yesterday. Her evidence is perfectly acceptable for this time… that’s why we have 2 year green cards but later we show $$$ and assets being mingled. In the beginning all you can bring is photos/love letters etc. Plus she’s already been in the states so she got that background check done b4/another check saying she hasn’t commited crimes while being here/she’s now American educated paying American taxes and genuinely fell in love so say ‘congrats’ and move on.

@Nunka you should be attacking the congressman and asking them for help on why its taking so long this doesnt have anything to do where the person comes from.

thank you for those who are kind and have helped along the way. I just wanted to share my story and maybe help others who had questions like when I asked other people questions. this is mostly a great community all trying to navigate a very challenging and complicated system
