Would you travel abroad when GC can be approved at any time?
I have a valid H1-B visa stamp and currently waiting for I-485 to be approved. My case was filed 300+ days ago, my date is current, and I just responded to the Medical RFE, so hopefully will get approved any time now. I have a family event in my home country in a few weeks. Would you book the trip? My lawyer said if GC gets approved while I am abroad, I can let the customs officer know and they would take me to additional inspections and ‘parole’ me in (I dont have AP approved) . I really want to go and wanted to see if anyone has experience with this situation. Given that USCIS processing timeline is completely unpredictable, I am sure I wouldnt be the 1st person abroad when GC gets approved.

your application is considered abandoned once you leave the country. so I would wait for the i485 approval. and get a i550 stamp before leaving the country
