how long did you work for your sponsoring company after green card was approved?

it depends on the company, from what I know in NYC, companies usually require 6-12 months of full time work before they start the EB2/EB1 process

Its 6 months full time. After that you can live even without a job.
I think its AC-21 Portability rule.
