Work permit renewal (EAD)
My EAD (work permit) as an asylum will expire in 10 months, and in order to apply for a renewal, I need to be within the 180-day (6-month) timeframe. I'm concerned about potential policy changes with the new Trump administration. Should I try applying for my EAD earlier than the allowed timeframe? Has anyone attempted this before?

Personally, I do not believe that will affect anything, but as you may know, you will get an extension starting the day your work permit expires, so I wouldn’t be worried too much.

if you’re an asylee you don’t have to apply for EAD all you need is to update your SSN to remove restriction and you can use for I-9 when to prove your eligibility to work! if your Asylum application is still pending then yes you need to apply for EAD!
