Yes you can get work permit but you have to go in front of immigration judge and ask for administrative closure on your Asylum Case so you can apply for I-485, I-765 and I-131 concurrently with USCIS!!! Ignore the travel advice to your home country from @hope courage. As an asylum applicant you shouldn’t travel to your home country on Advance Parole. You can travel to any other country with approved Advance Parole and Valid Passport as long as you don’t have any pending deportation and you have a visa (if needed ) for the same. Again, i’m hoping you have a lawyer, who filed your VAWA.

there is nothing wrong to travel back home after the asylum withdrawn successfully and guys don’t get me wrong what if he has family emergency like life or death situation ? do you think is it ok ? but I agree with others that if he has a removal proceeding in court and it’s not terminated successfully then he should not travel back home !

@Hope Courage Once you claim asylum for some reason, you establish that your life is in danger in your home country right. You later married and claimed you were abused, even though you withdrew the asylum case. Does that mean that those who are after you are no longer coming after you all of a sudden because of a family emergency? Make it make sense.

@Gill Bates yes it does and people always want to scare others who tends to travel ! as long as you withdraw asylum there is no issues and a lot of people traveling back home and come back safely so it’s up to that person whether travel or not ! I hope you understand and the debate is clear !!

Yes you can just apply for the c09 by yourself or doit with a lawyer . It takes times check the processing for the work permit

My lawyer applied for me but you can apply on your own. I expedite the work permit later on due to fiancial loss and it was approved.
