to clarify, we did not do our biometrics 7 days ago. we did it on May 17th. it was just linked to our case 7 days ago.

I read that is normal since each case is handled individually, there are some cases where dependent gets approved before. keep us updated on when yours gets approved

if I were to try and analyze this (acknowledging that USCIS does have a large margin of randomness), it may be because my daughter was not 10-finger printed and so is easier to process.

@B J, what a coincidence. I just noticed that my kids i765 were also approved today whereas that of my spouse and I are still on finger prints taken. As you mentioned, ours might still be going through background checks while the kids without a fingerprints requirements just got approved. Quick question: has your i140 petition been approved? Just wondering why they didn't just issue the GC straight.

@Rijo Rijo we have had a similar timeline throughout. to answer your question, yes, my I-140 has been approved.

we are also in same situation.. kids i765 changed to NCBP yesterday and parents status is still at fingerprints taken. our PD is also current. have seen similar cases getting direct GC approval..not sure what's going on.. pls let me know if you get any further updates..

@ don’t be surprised if you go straight to GC as you don’t really need an EAD depending on the visa you are on.

no I need EAD because we have b1/b2 and we are adjusting from that so we really need that

@ then I have read you may get that within a few days to a couple of weeks after. the way I calculate it, take the time from when you did biometrics to when it showed up as fingerprints assigned to your case and add that to todays date (if it took 10 days, add 10 days to today). That’s a rationalization but not scientific at all.

They are currently on H4 and being assigned an SSN (for just, just for tax purposes), does thus automatically move them away from H4 to a different status? If yes, what is it now? @B J, Hahaha. I wish!! But I don't think so. Bear in mind that my i140 petition has not been approved. Or to be more specific, my EB1B petition (PD Sept 2023) is still pending but my EB2-NIW petition (PD Dec 2022) has been approved and we are using the earlier PD for the AOS.

@B J, thanks for your thoughts. I know that if someone is on H4 and receives EAD based on pending i485, if the person uses the EAD, he/she is no longer on H4 and when the person travels out of the US., would need the advanced parole. Please can you confirm this based on what you know.

@Rijo Rijo if you switch from H4 to EAD, then yes. I don’t know enough about the H4 to give you an informed answer. my daughter is on L2Y.

@Rijo Rijo I had a very strange experience. the USPS informed delivery said I was expecting a mail from SSA but today when I checked the mail, that was the one piece of mail that was not there. Have you experienced this before (not necessarily for mail from SSA, but generally)?

@B J, it hasn't happened to me. But I have seen people report that sometimes it doesn't arrive the day is was slated to arrive. Can you log into your account and see what it says. Nevertheless, I believe it should be there by tomorrow. Unless, the post person dropped it in a wrong box. Hopefully, the latter is not the case.
