why is the date of filling way ahead of the final action date?
is there a reason why they have a filling date of January 2023 while the final action date is July2021? could it be that they are likely to move final action date closer to filing date in the near future? I have a pd of September 2022. curious if I’ll be current or retrogress again.

@Lucien J I’m in the same boat as you,I don’t know if anyone could answer that with certainty, even though I would love for PD to move forward to 2023 most likely it won’t anytime soon. There’s way too many people and not enough visas. my best bet is that they moved the filling date so they can start working on the applications, getting people EADs travel permits and more protection that comes with a pending Green Card. I hope I’m wrong🙏🏻 my PD is nov 2022

The Date for Filing and Final Action Date serve different purposes in the Visa Bulletin issued by the U.S. Department of State. The Final Action Date is the real approval cutoff. A green card cannot be approved unless your priority date is earlier than that date. The Date for Filing is set ahead on purpose so people can file I-485 early and USCIS can pre-process cases while waiting for visa numbers. A large gap between them is normal and does not guarantee the Final Action Date will quickly move forward. - Attorney Ana Gabriela Urizar (All information shared here is for general educational purposes only.
