What are the status adjustment interviews like based on a year of approved political asylum?
What questions do they ask? How do you prepare? If you say you're ready for an interview, is it possible they won't do it?

please take an attorney with you please no matter what people say or if they haven’t needed but you should take one with you
Oliver FarmJun 9, 2025
@Stewie Griffin where can one get an affordable attorney to go with to the interview?
James BJun 9, 2025
Don’t worry, you will generally be asked about 485, but if you have had an RFE before, you should also consider the RFE. If you have a criminal record, please be sure to bring a copy from the court.

we are under a very hard administration so please get a lawyer !!!! it’s better for you to have it in interview and to not need it. than to need it and don’t have it with you…. we are under no playing administration and uscis ice and homeland security don’t listen to who ever tell you don’t get a lawyer you don’t need one … every case it’s different GET AN ATTORNEY !!!!!

@vi_34567 345 You're one of the sound voices on this app. Despite the atmosphere we're currently living under, most immigrants still think they know it all and take risks that were affordable before this administration, and tell others to take the same risks. 🤦‍♀️ You're absolutely correct. This administration doesn't play, and even goes after legal immigrants. You'd think that would make more immigrants wiser to hire an immigration attorney for their cases, but here we are. lol Thank you for being wise. 🙌

has anyone here attended an green card interview for an asylee under this new regime?
Lilo PelekaiJun 10, 2025
@Oliver Farm : Yes. Hacking Immigration Law. I've worked with them and I will work with them again. By the way, they don't know I'm on here and wouldn't know who is behind this handle. So, I'm not paid in any way to refer them. I just had an amazing experience with that firm and its staff, and I wish all immigrants would be treated the way they treated me and treat their clients. They offer different payment plan options, too. Also, they have a YouTube channel where Jim, the founder of the firm, goes live at least 4 days a week and answers immigration questions.

@Lilo Pelekai thank you. I’ll check them out

@Lizzy g you had interview at may 19, right? what officer told you? when you will get decision? I had interview as well at may 9. still no decision.
Immigration GuyJun 10, 2025
@Lizzy g i've worked as paralegal and I'd highly recommend get your attorney present even if it is by phone. there's a good component of hiring a local successful attorney because they build a reputation and relationship with the officers in particular uscis offices so just keep that in mind as well. if you'd like to share the city happy to recommend some attorneys as well. with that said, from all the cases I've seen - the odds of this interview being a tough one are low, usually it's a discrepancy or a technical aspect that needs review is all that 90% of the time is. not worth risking the 10% though for sure!!!
