Vermont EAD I-765, category A17 (all other types of employment authorisation) filed Sept 2020, approved Sept 2021
It took almost a year to the day. I filed my I-765 stand-alone renewal as the spouse of an E3 holder. Two failed expedite requests and three e-Requests made for being outside normal processing time. Good luck to those still waiting.

renewal or first time??

congratulations

did you try expediting the petition? I have applied E3D and EAD together in jan 2021, no update yet.

It was a renewal. I tried expediting twice - first time through my Senator with evidence of a job offer; the second time on the basis of working for an IRS-registered nonprofit whose work furthers US social and cultural interests (this category of expedite grounds was restored in May 2021). I was rejected for both expedite requests, the second time without asking to see any evidence (even though I had a job offer from a nonprofit that easily met the national interests criterion).

My application also went beyond normal processing times three times and I made an e-Request service enquiry the first day I could each time. The first two times, USCIS subsequently extended the normal processing times so I was back within the timeframes again. I got the approval a few days after making the third e-Request for being outside normal processing times, but I donāt know whether it had any effect or was pure coincidence.

How about your E3D when it was apporved??
Lauren KSep 8, 2021
R P - good luck! The worst thing about being an E3D is the visa only lasts two years; it took a year to process my EAD so I got less than a year of authorisation, and have to start this whole renewal process again then š¤¦š¼āāļø it looks like there is some regulatory rule-making slated for next month that might provide for future EAD expedited processing, so letās hope thatās in place by the time we all come up for renewal.

I am not sure what to do at this point of time. All other category extension applications processing time is showing as 14 to 18 months for I 539, not at all moving.
R PSep 8, 2021
yeah so true...
Lauren KSep 8, 2021
Mine was a stand-alone EAD. I went back to my home country to get a new E3D visa, so didnāt have to do an adjustment of status.
R PSep 8, 2021
cool. atleast you are saved with respect to i 539 petition.
Lauren KSep 8, 2021
All I can suggest is trying your Senator or Congressperson, although that didnāt work for me and some will not assist you while you are within normal processing time. I donāt think E3Ds would ever qualify for the financial harm expedite grounds, as by definition they have an E3 spouse earning at or above the prevailing wage for their job. The nonprofit job offer grounds seems the most promising one for E3Ds, but I suggest trying to go through your Senator/Congressperson for that or youāll likely be rejected flat out without an RFE like I was if you make a direct expedite request to USCIS vs phone/Emma.

I did try with senate no luck. they just gave a response with normal processing times.
