I'd say let the employer be aware of your situation. How long ago did you apply for the renewal? If the wait isn't long maybe they will accept that. I was already on a job before when mine expired. I was able to remain for the 180 days but then when the new one didn't come in time, I had to leave. The company, however, saved my position until I returned, so there's also that.

you will get a job- the extension is now valid for 540 days. show them the receipt and expired EAD.

I used mine when my ead expired in December 2023. I had filed for the new ead in August and it didn’t arrive by December when the old one expired, so I qualified for extension. I had 540 day automatic extension by showing my current job HR my expired ead and the new ead receipt notice. Read what it says on your receipt notice and follow the link on the notice to see if you qualify and for how many days. The only thing I’m not sure about is if anyone will want to hire with an expired ead, I think most jobs ask specifically for an unexpired ead, but it’s worth a try since it’s not your fault the new ead is delayed.
