VAWA
Hello everyone! I need some help, please. So my VAWA case is currently on-going. I just started filing for it few months ago. I took a while to file because of finances. Recently, my estranged husband and I started talking again. Its been almost a year since we last spoke and almost 3 years since we have been separated. He hurt me badly but I still love him. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. He seems to have found God and doing much better. My question is: if we do reconcile, will that affect my VAWA and greencard filing status?

yes whoever is asking this question.either you in or you out.you can't be halfway in plus you can mess your self up I think.thwy authority can say you are failing a wrongfully case .?

You should find a good lawyer to speak to. The premise of a VAWA filling is on grounds of abuse. if you continue to file on those grounds - I think you may hurt the process but a I speak from an inexperienced angle. A good lawyer should be able to answer your question and advise on what’s the best course of action. Goodluck

When do you file vawa? if not too long ago, please go back to your husband and let him file for you instead of waiting for longer time. vawa is optional. go for marriage counseling and submit it to withdraw your vawa. that’s what my lawyer did. vawa take forever.

it will not affect your VAWA case please do not listen to anyone that say it will. VAWA doesn’t require you to be separated or divorce from your spouse to apply. Even if you separate and get back together it will not harm your case because things happen. I watch this immigration lawyer here’s a link to the video she made about this.

don’t stick to vawa case , vawa is second option if you decide to go back to your husband go for marriage counseling and withdraw the vawa. stop wasting your time. those telling you to stick with your vawa are lucky please if you have a chance to go back go back. is your life seek lawyer advice and move on with your life.

even if you get back together with your husband(shit happens we women often dont think with our heads), you don't necessarily have to let him know you filed vawa, stick it out with the vawa since you already have all your evidence n all, who is to say he can not go back to how he was with you (not being negative, just looking out for a fellow lady) but it's best for you to be realistic, once people show you who they are the first time...believe them!!!! live and light siste

Don’t withdraw the Vawa. You both can go to interview, while the Vawa is still on.
