@Mike P what are the asking? how much did your lawyer charged initially

How much did you pay your lawyer in the beginning and it depends on the arrangement you guys had. My attorney wouldnt charge me a cent.

No fees for VAWA. RFE should NOT cost that much! If RFE is for good moral character all that can be done by yourself. It was like $50 for background checks in my town. How much did you pay for representation? Are you on a reatiner?

If you know the documents they are requesting, gather them and mail them yourself to, the office that's on the notice. lawyers are all about money, you don't need your lawyer to respond. you just need a lawyer as a safety net.

I think I have those documents and I know that I did submitted all documents but some they want again or my lawyer didn’t submitted enough that time

@Mike P, how much did you pay initially? Do you have any other choice besides obeying? This is additional abuse than the abuser. sign the retainer, and call it a day. You can make that money later down the road, if everything goes well. Happy for you that at least things are moving. when did you file your #i360?

hey Mike P… if you have all the documents then go to your lawyer with your documents and ask them to review. a simple review should not be charged as $4000. also, make sure you send the rfe response after your lawyer reviews everything so that they don’t miss sending something. lastly, for what categories did they mark as X in RFE, please?

No way it's a lot of money for response I don't know what happens whit the lawyer

no extra charges , a serious lawyer has all that involves your vawa case at the initial agreement ,unless you get denial and you refile which means onother case begins.

they ask me to respond with this 1 Qualifying Relationship 2 Shared Residence 3 Battery and/or Extreme Cruelty 4 Good Faith Marriage (for spousal self-petitions)

I have this all and I believe when I start process I did provide all this to attorney.

I have friends and relatives statements for no 3 it’s that fine if anyone know

for #3, you need a psychologist report as well and if possible any police report if filed or any hospital record due to abuse.

@mike please don’t pay any lawyer any money okay. since you have all the docs they require, you can submit on your own. for piece of mind you can just review it with the lawyer and that shouldn’t be more than $500 tops. make sure you write a detailed SOP of the evidence to give it more detail and make it strong so that they can approve asap. Again don’t pay such amount to a lawyer cuz you are giving them free money at this time and they won’t do anything at all on your case. so take it in your hands and do the needful cuz it’s your life and make sure you treat it by yourself and pray on it and all will come out successful as you hope for. you got this and no need to panick at all. you are so close to the finishline alright 👌🏽

@Mike P Yes, that is fine but the most powerful evidence is your own personal statement. Make sure your statement is well detailed and explain yourself from the beginning of your fruendship/ how you met, marriage and the abuse.. what actually transpired in detail. Make it very detailed so that the officer reading your statement is not confused or left with questions. Write it in chronological order of events. Also make sure your lawyer sent everything the first time. What they're asking is like you had not sent anything when you filed the first time. Good luck! 🙏🏾

@Mike P for psych evaluation, make sure you go to a psychologist who is experienced with vawa cases.

@Mike P im in the same situation as you. They are requesting for documents I had provided before. The lawyer I spoke to wants to charge me 4k also. But honestly,at dis point I will let the lawyer handle it. I didn't use a lawyer when I filed initially.
