I’m in Texas Houston to be precise, yes they do second verification of your documents by contacting their office in Austin.They will reach out to uscis to confirm. I had similar experience while I was using OPT in school. Also, if the officer was experienced, trust me, there no need for verification. During my case, I went back to dpas the next day and another officer did it for me.

yes but mine is different. I am not using extension. I have the ead card valid till next year and they said they still need to do second verification. second verification is done for automatic extension but not for someone that has a valid ead card

Did they at least give you a temporary paper print out valid for 60days while they do their crappy unnecessary verification? SMH.... They do the same in FL, but at least you will have a paper showing you're allowed to be on the road.
