vawa 290B
One of my friend received a denial on their VAWA case even after filing a mandamus. As a result of the denial, her work permit and travel document were automatically invalidated. Her previous attorney filed an appeal in the administrative court, but the case was dismissed.
After that, my friend changed attorneys. The new attorney filed Form I-290B again, but this time directly with USCIS instead of the administrative court or a higher judicial body. The appeal was submitted with new evidence and marked as a Motion to Reopen.
Now my friend has received the receipt number for the new I-290B filing, and the new attorney told her that work permit and travel authorization automatically became valid again — and that she can use her advance parole to travel. However, the attorney also said she will not receive any separate written confirmation about this.
My friend is afraid to travel without something official.
Is there a way to verify whether their work permit and travel document are truly valid again? If so, where or how can this be confirmed?

If your friend enters their receipt numbers (I-360, I-485, and Advance Parole) on the USCIS website and doesn’t see a denial notice, then they should be able to travel

she should make sure to get a prima facie as well

@Ivan b I told her same . her receipt still shows denied for all of her receipt numbers

in this case he CAN NOT travel otherwise he won’t be able to come back, even if they will tell him that advance parole is valid. his vawa and subsequent appeal was denied. the chance that his motion to reopen will be approved is very slim. on average less than 5% are successful.

@Naomi N what was the reason for denied vawa?

@Naomi N can you please share reason for denial

mandamus is to get a decision/response: either approval or denial. I would not recommend her to travel, as she can be detained if her papers are not in order...

@Naomi N Hi my friend! This is only my opinion. To my understanding if her EAD, I-485 and prima facie related to previous VAWA whatsoever receipt number shows invalid due to the denied VAWA, it will always remained invalid until a new EAD is received through the new filing EAD application I-765. Since a new I-485 is filed within a month your friend should remain in status. Therefore, I would recommend your friend not to leave US until she gets a combo card.
Please verify with an Immigrstion lawyer.
