US permanent resident applying for Parents.
Hello, I’m a lawful US permanent resident who married a US citizen. I have received my Green Card in August 2021 almost 10 months after submitting my application. Me and my wife are trying to get my mom in the US to live with us. I’m the only child of my mom. My Dad passed away in 2014. My mom lives alone, she has no one to take care of her and on top of that she retired. Me and my wife are worried about her if something happens and has no one to relying on. I know that I can apply for her to come her live with us if I have my US citizenship and it will take me up to 3 year to be eligible to apply for the citizenship, but who knows what could happen by then? I’m looking for advice and help to get my mom live with me and my wife here in the US Please advise. Thank you,

As far as I know, only US citizens are allowed to petition their parents for a green card. I’m not sure whether there was a change on these rules.

You are not eligible to file for your parent(s) as a permanent resident. Wait till you become a citizen

the quickest way for her to come to the US is by applying for a visitors visa she can travel back and forth until you become a citizen so you can sponsor her a greencard she'll be able to adjust her status while in the US as long as you apply 90 days after her arrival

To petition for your parents (mother or father) to live in the United States as Green Card holders, you must be a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years old. Green Card holders (permanent residents) may not petition to bring parents to live permanently in the United States. https://www.uscis.gov/family/family-of-us-citizens/bringing-parents-to-live-in-the-united-states-as-permanent-residents

Let her apply for visitor visa. She can stay the US for 6 months then fly back for a month and then come back until you get your citizenship. Just make sure that she does not overstay and get her a good health insurance. Good luck!

just invite her over and if you and your wife have a kid already you can just let them know she’s coming over to care for the child as you can’t afford the daycare

@Ibrahim sorry, I mean you can invite her but, as a permanent resident, you can cannot file for her. Sorry, for the misinformation… my bad 😞.
