U.S. Federal employee with foreign spouse
I recently accepted a position with the U.S. federal government as a U.S. citizen. My wife is a Greek citizen whom I've been married to for 12 yrs and share two children with dual citizenship (American/German). We are currently living in Germany working for the DoD as a contractor. I requested an expedited for Petition for Alien Relative i130 (260 days/ actively reviewing since September 20, 2023). I recently reached out to my congress reps for assistance and awaiting aa response. Does it make sense to contact a Immigration lawyer if our paperwork is in order? Can an Immigration lawyer really help expedite our case? Thank you for any insight.

I wouldn’t do it, you already took the steps on your own that could help expedite, give it some time and hopefully you’ll hear good news. Good luck!!

if it will take longer than expected can try to submit an inquiry via local Congress. Also you can sue USCIS for a delayed case on your own, you will get a decision within 60 days. Do youtube search to learn more about it, and to get assistance with it "Writ of Mandamus Pro Se"

typically these cases take about a year for i130. 11-15 months. You still have a quite. about of waiting time if you file Sept of last year. Expedite is only for humanitarian reasons for example .
