what happen to your Nigeria divorce? the focus should be on resolving the nigeria divorce and not to divorce your us husband. the benefit you have been receiving is as a result of nigeria divorce been finalized and if you dont resolve it...then the marriage to us husband is null n void

Where state in did you obtain the divorce ? Did you went for interview ? Does you divorce have decree nisi and decree absolute . How long have you been married to your US husband.

i have the same issue with my nigeria divorce and my case was denied in 2020. what you should do is very simple, first off, whr is ur ex husband, if in Nigeria get in touch with him asap and re- divorced him but this time, make sure it shows online on the court website. mine is showing online anytime i tracked it but off course it will cost you fortune, you know Nigerians. you just have to find a good lawyer in Nigeria that will do it for you. second, if ur ex husband is here in the US, get in touch and re-divorced him here in the US, i know quite a number of people that did there divorce here in the US. my humble suggestions

@shade Olu. No you don’t have to, all you need is re-divorce ur ex and ur reason will be USCIS was not able to validate the divorced.

if you live in Texas you don’t need to divorce your current husband. check olaleyeimmgration page on instagram she explains it.

Hi @shade olu I had a case similar to yours & I’m a Nigerian lawyer so I’ll explain what happened. Any marriage you contracted after your Nigerian divorce will be deemed null and void because USCIS most likely cannot verify that your divorce is authentic. They frown at divorces from countries that don’t have records. Nigeria is one. In my case, I had a divorce document from Nigeria but I hadn’t filed with it. I had remarried here, & was about to file but just decided to make it waterproof so I approached the courts here and filed another divorce. This set me back for a while to be honest because my new divorce nullified my new marriage. That’s the law (If you’re having a fresh divorce, it means you were still married the whole time & whatever new marriage you thought you were in is void by law). I then remarried my husband after I got my divorce here. I know it’s a long and stressful process but it’s worth it. Armed with my new divorce document, I then filed. If I had used my old divorce document, I would have filed in 2021 but with all the wahala of going through another divorce here & then filing again, I lost a year and filed just last year (2022). My sister, I’ve gotten my green card o! You don’t have to go to Nigeria to get another divorce. You can do it here. The only implication is that it nullifies your existing marriage so you’ll have to remarry your spouse and then file. Don’t think about the time you’ve lost, just do the right thing. They won’t deny a case carrying their own country seal, plus you’ll sleep with both your eyes closed at night. @shade olu they may issue a removal. That’s their prerogative. You may want to employ the services of a lawyer. Honestly, you should get a lawyer. They’ll tell you exactly what to do. As to the question on divorce, you only have to divorce your ex. Immediately you get a new divorce document, your present marriage would be seen as it never happened. In that case, since your new marriage would be considered void anyway, there’s nothing to divorce from. Do you understand? Speak to a lawyer please. God will help you, don’t be scared. God will carry you through this season but you’ll come out strong. I’m rooting for you!
