Update our addresses? Attorney says not to.
When we filed our I-130 (Jan. 2021) my husband and I both resided in his flat in London, since then we are renting a condo in Chicago and he sold his flat, staying with family when in London. Our attorney said not to update our addresses, that communication is by email and will update after approval. Our attorney practices in the UK and is barred in Illinois - very experienced and I want to trust her but she spends little time explaining, anything and when I contacted Emma (regarding something else) they sent forms for both my husband and I to each update our addresses and said we must since we both already moved.
What to do?

main reason Uscis asks you to update your address is so that you can receive approval forms from Uscis . if you have access to your old address mailbox, you don’t have to change it. Otherwise , you must update the address ASAP

Thank you. Post is being forwarded from the flat to my husband parents home but that is not guarantee… I asked our attorney again and her assistant responded and said we were already told not to update and any updates are done online.

my lawyer said the same thing for my wife who is the US citizen. she moved from another state to my place in GA. I haven’t moved … just her since we applied. the lawyer said… she doesn’t have to.

usually when you have a lawyer, it's generally to the lawyer that they will addressed any mails. maybe that's why your lawyer advised you not to changed address now. You can move but since you have a lawyer, this last will forward everything to you. And since this backlog, I don't think it's a good idea for address change because it will slow down your application again.

my US citizen husband moved and our lawyer updated the adress with uscis mentioning it is very important they have the correct updated address - it was done within two weeks - when we logg onto our uscis online Account it now shows the updated address. I-130 California service center / consular processing

uscis on every document they issue states to update the address if you move see the uscis website
