I applied for I765 after my bonafide determination was approved. receipt date for work c14 work permit is January 29th, 2025. Still nothing and my inquiry date isn't until November 2026. U-related EAD timing depends on whether this is bona fide determination, deferred action, waitlist, or approved U status. Waiting since August 2025 is stressful but not necessarily unusual in U cases. Check your I-765 category and receipt number processing time. If outside normal processing, submit an inquiry. You can get a driver's license without an EAD, but not a real ID as you will need an SSN. I got my driver's license in Chicago without an EAD.
