Two jobs
Can someone share from experience if I am able to look for another job using my EAD while remaining with my sponsor organization? Like having two jobs at the same time, but second job is non-religious vocation. I am under EB4 through R1.

this is something you should check with your attorney just to make sure you are doing the right thing. I don’t see a problem but you got to be sure!

My attorney doesn’t know for sure but encouraged me to apply for marriage GC so there’s no attachment to any organization. This is new attorney, I didn’t use an attorney for my i485. Now pending adjudication, delayed due to retrogression.

Yes, if you have an EAD, you can have a second job so long you remain with your petitioner. With EADs, you have the freedom to work for any employer. It baffles me how your attorney doesn't know this.

Thank you @N G , I’m an avid reader of your updates! Well, all attorneys out there are up for (more) money only, and he just wanted me to file for marriage GC through him as my consultation sessions with him are covered by my insurance, MetLife Legal Plans. It’s sad but that’s the hard truth in this world today.

@N G there is a interesting conversation going on at the Christian post regarding EB4 religious workers, in which our lawmakers have no idea about this policy change and the retrogression imposed on EB4, some of the law makers are suprised with this policy change, Josh Hawley is asking touch and reasonable questions regarding this massive retrogression.

I am curious. Are there any underlying rules regarding our hours with our petitioner? Am I able to remain with them on a part time basis?

@Amarah O! I think there is specifically mentioned that full time hours between 35 to 40 hours per week, so we should satisfy that in mother organization until we get status adjustment.

minister’s status adjustment is based on I-360, so EAD don’t give unlimited permissions based on 485 in my knowledge.

@V N you may be right. I was told that I can’t have any other jobs unless it is religious worker related. @N G any insights?
N GDec 12, 2023
Once you're not on R1 status anymore and on EAD, you're free to work for a non-religious employer and even take on a second job. The only hitch is, that if immigration checks in and asks your religious employer about your status, they need to confirm that the religious job is still open and ready for you if you are prepared to return.

@N G thank you for your reply.. I was re reading your reply and noticed you said “IF you are prepared to return”. Do I really have a choice?
