@ hello im gonna be honest with you i also received my refugee travel document last year on February and its expiring with in 3 weeks and i never feel safe to travel outside the USA is of right now all i can tell you is that no one unless you are a us citizen is safe to travel outside the USA. other people may say you can etc… but travel document do no guarantee your entry back into the USA it says it on the green booklet ( it’s officer discretion to let you in) so please if it’s not an emergency DO NOT TRAVEL OUTSIDE THE USA DONT GIVE THEM A REASON TO TRY TO TAKE YOUR BENEFIT AWAY.

it’s safe to travel with travel document I came yesterday from outside USA but keep in mind you don’t any criminal record… if not have any criminal record then it’s ok for you to travel.. for me no question ask when I returned.

It's a personal decision. I have an RTD (Refugee Travel Document) and I don't feel secure with that document because it's at the officer's discretion whether to let you enter or not. But even so, I took the risk and traveled to Honduras and didn't have any problems.

@Nina Bonita But if your asylum application is still pending and you only have work authorization, do not travel. If you go to Puerto Rico and, for example, your plane has to land in the Dominican Republic due to bad weather, you will no longer be able to enter the United States.

Puerto Rico is USA. No problem at all
Marvin MejiaJan 31, 2026
@Male Him You're right, the only problem with traveling to Puerto Rico is that due to bad weather, planes often have to land in other countries. And if that happens for any reason, you won't be able to enter the United States because you have a pending asylum application. Does that make sense?

@Marvin Mejia Ohhh....I didn't know that. With that, it is not immigrationally safe then to come to go to Puerto Rico for an asylee
