Traveling with AP
Good day Family., Quick question. I have ised my AP card to travel to London last year November and I had no zero issue coming back through JFK. I will be traveling on the 21st and come back on the 26th… Would trump inauguration have a negative effect on me coming back in? Thank You!

@Tee Boy I do not have experience traveling with AP but in my opinion I think it’s going to be alright. The new administration will start on the 20th, even if they make changes for immigration it is not going to happen overnight. It will take time. In addition, you are coming back right away anyway so I think you will be fine.

well, I just saw this info on Reddit, a woman, her husband and their twin girls travelled to Argentina .. the husband was not allowed entry back to the US with his advanced parole even though he has a pending AOS. So, move with caution!

@Bogata Wigge I have been reading a lot of your contributions here and you are very wrong. Were you in the States during his first administration? Didn’t you hear of the various bans he issued with executive orders on his first day that caused ripple effects as regards to immigration. Lawyers are advising their clients to return before the 20th and schools are also advising their international students to get back into the US before Inauguration Day and you are saying “changes for immigration is not going to happen overnight”. I would advice you keep your opinion and not share it because someone might lose all effort they have put on their journey to come thus far. If lawyers/ school could advice their clients and international students to come back, it shows how erratic the new administration can be and no one is willing to take chances. @Tee Boy I would advice you seek legal advice from your lawyer but more so postpone your trip because you can’t predict the new administration. Atleast get to know what their policy drive will be for a few days or weeks when they come in. You have the opportunity to reschedule your international trip as tickets normally last a year. Secondly, people can’t know if the administration would have a negative impact on you as no one knows the details of your immigration background and even if people know, no one can tell you the mind of the administration or the immigration officer you will encounter on arrival. I’m just giving you my own 50 cent advice.

@bridges 5 so what is the point of asking/giving an opinion on this app? I thought there is a such thing called “FREEDOM OF SPEECH“.? Wow! I am very wrong? okay, maybe you are an expert or a lawyer who knows EVERYTHING! I apologize for voicing out my opinions here. I apologize that when you read my comments here triggers you!

Trump's travel ban did not apply to individuals with advance parole documents. I recommend continuing with your plans and not putting your life on hold while waiting for a green card. I’ve applied for a UK visa, and if approved, I plan to travel there for 10 days. Keep in mind that entry into the U.S. is never 100% guaranteed unless you are a U.S. citizen—even green card holders face risks. In the worst-case scenario, if you are denied entry, request to see an immigration judge and avoid signing any documents presented to you. Life is short, and a green card is not the ultimate goal. I know people who live much better lives in other countries than we do here. Since you’ve applied for VAWA, I assume you’ve already endured some form of abuse. Continuing to expose yourself to more fears and uncertainties may only take a greater toll on your mental well-being. Best of luck!

Make sure you don’t have any pending criminal cases and check your alien number to confirm you were never involved in removal proceedings. Travel with your advance parole (AP), prima facie letter, and all your case notices. Ensure none of your travel documents, including your passport and AP, are expired. Leave the rest in the hands of the almighty.

@Gull Kaan If you arrive with AP and if they deny you at the port of entry, you can’t request to see a judge. @bridges 5 @Bogata Wigge

@Ivan b Thank you, if that is the case then I don’t know what else to say. All I can say is remain positive and continue to live life. Do not believe right away on what you heard or what you see in the news about immigration stuff. I hope some certain people here would minimize pointing out somebody’s opinion based on what they heard. It will just make people scared. It is already 2025 and we are all going through a lot. Let us all remain positive in light of the coming new administration.🙏

I arrived from South Africa yesterday through JFK on Qatar Airways and it was very smooth. They took my Advance parole document and passport, went through their system and stamped my document after 5mins. No questions asked.
