if the law to not use your passport why they give you the option to receive your travel document from us embassy? so for sure you going to leave the US useing your passport in order to receive your travel document from US embassy! right?

so as asylee green card feel free to use your passport but of course not to cop IF YOU HAVE ASYLEE OR REFUGEE WITHOUT GREEN CARD YOU CANT BACK TO THE US WITHOUT REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT

Asylum was approved , got a green card. Not planning travel to COP. Too many contradicting laws: on USCIS site we need to apply for RTD. Now I read that we can use our NP. Any real experiences from people who travel in the same situation?

@ed wl thank you for information. Trying to gain all sources to be sure 100%.

@Paul Paulus you welcome I didn't use my passport yet still no place to go since I got my green card!
ed wlJun 29, 2024
you can check the link I sent it ☝️ federal regulations

@ed wl from the link i understood that we can use many options, buy our choice, such as RTD, re-entry permit. But didn't see that we can use our national passport. "Refugees and asylees who have become LPRs may use different documents when traveling abroad, depending on their circumstances". Does it mean only form i131 or NP too?
ed wlJun 29, 2024
they said different document! different from what ? from rtd. what another option to travel international? passport
Paul PaulusJun 29, 2024
@ed wl this is kind of grey zone. Might be they mean RTD,Re-entry permit, advanced parole or something else like NP?
ed wlJun 29, 2024
bro if you green card you can't apply for advice parole.. definitely they mean passport
ed wlJun 29, 2024
let me send you YouTube from lawyer, one minute
Paul PaulusJun 29, 2024
@ed wl I hope so. use NP is much easier and don't need to wait 15-18 months such as RTD. Thanks for advice.
Paul PaulusJun 29, 2024
@sure,thanks
ed wlJun 29, 2024
another problem with rtd valid for one year so valid for one trip because all over the world requires 6 months valid for your passport or documents..so we waiting 18 months for rtd use one time then if we need travel again we need wait another 18 months! it's too much!!
ed wlJun 29, 2024
@Paul Paulus let me ask you about citizenship! do we apply from resident since or one year before?
Paul PaulusJun 29, 2024
This is kind of grey zone. Everything depends on border patrol officer. Thank you for video, good information.
ed wlJun 29, 2024

What i know is if you have GC and your country’s valid pp you are good. The meaning of RTD is that if you do not have your valid pp. You should have another ID meaning your valid pp to show along with your GC.

I just received my GC 2 months ago, 3 persons in a family, travel to Montreal from NY, crossing land border, this is my experience: - getting to Canada, they do need to see our country passport and also greencard, what I can see is they just tap the GC in the scanner maybe just to verified that original GC, and then ask a few questions like how long you gonna stay, where are you from, and done. - getting back to US, the border officer don’t even see the passport, they just need to see our greencard, tap it to their computer, ask a few question like, where do you live, did u brought anything back from Canada, and that’s it. “have a nice day”, officer said. what I read in the internet is, even when you entered US via airport, officer don’t need your passport, GC is enough to re-entry, please advice. my attorney also said we are OK to use our birth country passport, as long as we don’t travel to our birth country.
