Travel with AP
came back from Montreal to New York State by driving on 07/06/2025. Got into the second inspection for about 40 minutes and they stamped on my I512L and passport and let me in.
only asked where I live (NJ), my work, how long I have stayed in Montreal (2days). no more questions asked.

I guess my question is how safe it is to travel with AP if I do so a few times a year

@ال إيمان yes I applied Canada tourism visa on their IRCC portal. the process takes basically 2 weeks - very fast. AP is not a valid visa for entering Canada.

@G L No this is the first time. As “Paroled” status, I guess it doesn’t make sense for traveling so many times. But I’ve heard that if you driving thru the border with the stamp on AP already, you may not need to go thru the second inspection again. It’s just a rumor and I’ve never confirmed this officially with any officers.

@ال إيمان Thank you for trusting me. I’m not professional so I can only give you some advices and tips -
- search on google “tourist visa Canada” and find the website www.canada.ca and click to the webpage “How to apply for a visitor visa”
- go thru their list of questions and prepare needed documents.
- scroll down to find the link to IRCC Portal - they have old version/new version. I used new version but I heard that old version is better.
- register account, fill out the needed form, upload the needed docs and submit. it spent me 3 hours.
- wait for them to review and send you letter (in the portal) for biometrics. it took one day for me to received the biometrics letter. then follow the letter to schedule the appointment.
- after you take the biometrics just wait for them to update your portal inbox for next step - drop off the passport or to mail.

1. I chosed the reason as “to visit as a tourist”
2. after the biometrics it took about 10days - 2weeks to notify me to drop/mail the passport.
3. the cheaper way is to purchase 2-way courier for mailing the passport.
