Travel on advance parole
Morning Lovely community,
I wanted to check if anyone has travelled outside the country on the advance parole with pending Green Card.(still in the interview phase either get waived or will have one).
what was your experience? Is it risky to do so? I may have to travel by end of the year for work and to see my family ( haven’t seen them in 5 years) and I am too scared that they may not let me back into the country.
ps: I know it’s different from a person to another but interested to know people experiences( I have the advance parole on my work authorization card and it is valid for 5 years).

I am in the same situation. Pending i485 with a combo card. I had no issue traveling last year. I went to the secondary room to get a stamp that allows me to not being pulled to the secondary room the next time.
I was scared too since you never know what would happen, but it was a quick check. Have a fun trip!

I have traveled recently and came back through JFK. No questions were asked and it was smooth.
So in my opinion if you don’t have any criminal history or any other big problem with your immigration history, then book your tickets and enjoy your trip! :) No one will say you anything on the way back!

@lily Hardy I’m current traveling abroad with my combo card. This is my first trip. Based on hundereds of posts online, advice from my attorney, and haven’t seen my family in years, I decided to travel.

@lily Hardy 🙏🙏🙏. as a precaution I checked with the airlines to see if they recognize the combo card. They said they would not allow me board the plane on my return trip because they were saying it’s a work permit, not a travel document. long story short, the supervisor checked in with the chief of CBP at the airport and he/she told the airline supervisor that I was allowed to come back because it’s a combo card which allows me to seek reentry into the US. It was a relief as I was hearing it from the horses mouth that I wouldn’t have any issues coming back.

@unicorn S. I did ask the CBP officer at port of enntry and I was told that regardless if you have a stamp still valid. they always pull you to secondary room for porpuse of parole. I had travelled twice and I can confirm, I went to secondary inspection even though Paroled stamp was still valid.
