Travel during OPT
Hi all,
I hold OPT-X i-20 document and also pending greencard travel permit (I-131). With which document I need to enter US? Since i applied concurrently, if my i-140 application is denied during my travel abroad, can I still enter US with OPT-X I-20 ?

@Al O Dangerous path! If your I-140 is denied, automatically everything relating to adjustment of status is as well terminated.

why is it dangerous? How people do apply then ? What is the point of having OPT travel permit ?

OPT is “optional” which raises the risk of the cbp officer not admitting you as you have shown intent to immigrate. moreover, if you live the country without the 131 approved or have a double intent visa like H1B, your pending 485 will be declared abandoned and consequently DENIED.

@T. G. thanks , I have travel permit i-131; but just in case i-140 is denied when I am abroad what happens 🙂
