travel documents
Hi all,
This question goes to refugees and asyless green card holders.
Has anyone ever used their home country passport to check in with a airline at the airport when flying outta the states even tho the RTD remains your main travel document in and out the country and which consequence did you face afterwards ?

if you look on reddit and other forums a lot of people do that, but usually when they have a GC…
there is no consequences, but technically you should be resdy to answer why you using it….nwver heard anyone getting i ntrouble, but this is some grey area with no explanation by uscis/cbp

I entered with advance parole based on the I 485 for asylum and the passport of my country without any problem last year, because even now I have not received RTD

@Idriss Mansour As asylum seekers, we're not supposed to use our country's passport. It's not recommended because it's up to the officer to decide whether to allow entry. That's what my lawyer advised me.

One of the consequences when applying for citizenship is that we should not use our country's passport because that means we're using that country's protection.

The passport is not a protection, it is an international identification, I had to use my passport because the RTD has not arrived, and when I presented my i485 I had to renew it because the one I had was expired and I had to send the copy along with the i485, so there are many myths about that but I did not have any problem entering with it, my RTD has not arrived yet, I am waiting neither for my GC,

I spoke to more than 10 people, and they never had a problem , Secondary inspection for different stuff, but not with passport so far. one of my friends recently came back zero questions just stamp and welcome home from the officer
in different forum. One lady from Russia said she was coming back to US and showed her RTD in the officer took her a secondary inspection and he asked her if she has any other passport. She said yes home country passport, then she told her to use it next time for a faster entrance
Just do not fly to your home country
