Tips I’d give now that i’m finally done with my case
- Always do your own research. If you feel like your lawyer is missing something, check it.
- Don’t be scared to reach out to them, you’re literally paying for their service.
- And if you think they messed up, SAY something. Honestly, if I had spoken up sooner, my interview would’ve been scheduled way earlier. They told me I didn’t need to send a police certificate to the NVC… like, what?!
- Be involved in your case. Don’t go crazy, but don’t be hands-off either.
- Ask questions anywhere, in this app, Facebook, Reddit. There are tons of people going through the same thing.
And honestly, the hardest tip:
Be patient. Don’t forget to actually live your life during all of this. Your happiness doesn’t start when the green card arrives, it just continues. Don’t put your whole life on pause.

i never sent police report with initial application to establish good moral character,
i asked my lawyer if we should send it since vawa has been oending since april 2022 she said no we cant just send them stuff.
do you think i should get it and send it? if yes to where? what office ?

@ayel yael in my case, when i got the welcome letter from NVC, they requested a bunch of documents which included police report, if they didn’t ask, then it’s ok, but in my case the asked and she chose not to send it

congratulations 🎉 and I love the tips! A lot of people postpone their happiness for when the green card, but honestly, life is now and finding joy even in the mundane is the ultimate blessing!!

@beesz h I am waiting for my interview it’s been almost a year since I got my approval and 7 months waiting for the interview , but my lawyer no longer gets involved with my case all she says is that let the NVC do their work ect
what do you suggest?

@lo De is she a citizen? green card holder? for citizen, the interview is scheduled faster, if you have received the DQ from NVC then it’s about to be scheduled, if you havent received, I would e-mail NVC asking whats missing to get DQ
