Hey guys, I have a question about my i-485 thats been in texas service center since 2021 with no update, it doesnt even say fingerprint applied online but I did get a letter that recent fingerprint were applied. I tried to research about texas service center and there is almost no information about it, I cant even find processing time. is it normal? my lawyer made a mistake sending my i-485 there? vawa was approve about two months ago

@Question Mark yes I was and it was dismissed about a year ago. What should I tell them when I call? thanks for replying

your vawa was recently approved, there's nothing wrong. you couldn't get i485 approved without vawa first being approved and the fact it approved 2 months ago it's a waiting game again for the i485

@Shari how did it take to dismiss your removal from when you filled for it to be dismissed and what state did you do it.
rolly rolAug 10, 2024
@Shari I know but it just seems like my i-485 has been paused with no movement at all, never got a single update so it feels like there might be something wrong

@rolly rol the only update you should get now is a RFE for medical and that will be anytime soon, it won't hurt to call to tell them your vawa has been approved though
Shari Aug 10, 2024

@Rolly I don't think you should have sent your I 485 application to Texas Service Center after your removal proceedings were dismissed. Texas Servce Center is for those who are Adjusting their I 485 in immigration courts. When you chose to adjust in immigration court, the judge usually require the applicant to send a photocopy of the I 485 you want to send to the court to the Texas Service center. when the Texas service center issues you a receipt number, you submit that receipt number with your original I 485 to the court for adjustment. But if your removal proceedings were dismissed by the judge after your VAWA was approved, you should have sent the fresh I 485 to the Vermont Service Center or the Nebraska service center because when your removal proceedings dismissed by the judge, you were no longer under the jurisdiction of the Court for your adjustment instead, USCIS vermont Service center is where you should have sent your fresh I 485 to. I hope my opinion helps.

@Dream Daddy I have been wondering why my adjustment of status itself were filed at the Nebraska center and not in Vermont. Based on what you said, now it makes sense to me. lol thank you😊
